Mission Statement
 
The society's objectives and ideals shall be: to promote the study of the archeology of Illinois and its neighboring states; to encourage careful scientific archaeological research and excavation; to promote the conservation of important archaeological sites and artifacts and to favor the passage of local, state and federal laws prescribing such; to encourage the establishment of local archaeological societies; to promote the spread of archaeological knowledge by means of publications and meetings; to serve as a bond between the individual archaeologists in the area; to discourage the traffic in archeological artifacts for the sole purpose of financial profit and to discourage the collecting of artifacts without proper record keeping and cataloging.
