This model represents the details of the Mississippian dwelling that is painted onto the two 12' x 15' Arky Site tarps.

At anytime during the survey students can refer to any of models to help understand what is displayed on the Arky Site tarps.

A student refers to the house model to
better understand what he and his team
members have to measure for the survey.

In his right hand is the 100' tape-reel
used for taking distance measurements.

The Art of Flintknapping
Irons Oaks Staff member, Alice Kornblum, explains the details of the Flintknapping model to the students before they
begin measuring simi liar artifacts.

The layout contains separate areas for cooking , food preparation , sleeping , and tool making.
Each artifact is permanently marked with a three-letter identification tag.

This site map is attached to the backside of each survey slate for easy identification of artifacts
and features by the students and staff.
