“The Arky for Kidz program is a great way to introduce archeology
to kids through a hands-on experience. We have gotten a wonderful response
from the teachers and students that have already participated in the program.
Most children, and even adults, do not understand what really goes into an
archeological dig and Arky for Kidz give them their first window into something that,
for some, could become a career someday.”

Arky Site
The two 12' x 15' tarps
represent a generic, single family,
Mississippian style dwelling.
The Arky Site contains detailed painted images of pottery, cooking pots, bed rolls, and stone making tools.
The black circles surrounding the dwelling represent post holes of the exterior walls. |

Arky Site Lecture
The first step is to introduce the class to the program with details of the Arky Site layout and survey tools.
5 small models of the site are available for the students to use during the survey.
The class is lead by Alice Kornblum, a staff member at Irons Oaks. |
