Outings

Society -sponsored outings include guided visits to special exhibits at local museums and galleries, field trips to nearby historic and natural areas, and weekend excursions in Illinois and the surrounding states.
Longer journeys have been made to the Southwestern United States, along with extended treks to Central and South America, and Europe.


Excavations

In the past the SSAS has provided assistance to professional archaeologists with surveys, research, and other types of field work. Our members have worked on archaeological excavations in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, the U.S. Southwest, and as far away as Scotland. Some of these projects are ongoing.

honor - the Silver Trowel award.
